Frequently asked
How do I start a new piece?
Tap the round + button beside the dock at the bottom of the Shelf. (While your shelf is still empty, that + sits in the middle of the screen instead.) There is no form to fill in — the piece is created instantly and opens straight to its lifecycle.
How do I name a piece?
A new piece goes by its number, like #018, until you name it. Open the piece and tap its title, or tap the ⋯ button at the top right and choose Name this Piece. To change a name later, the same button reads Rename Piece.
How do I track a piece through firing?
Open a piece and tap each stage’s circle as you finish it. Every piece starts with Thrown → Trimmed → Glazing → Finish. To add the optional stages — Under Glaze, Bisque Kiln and Glaze Kiln — tap the + next to the “Lifecycle” heading. Each stage holds a photo and a note, and once a stage is ticked you can correct its completion date.
How do I save my glazes and clay?
Tap the round profile button at the top right of any tab to open Profile, then choose Materials under “Your studio”. Add your glaze colors and clay bodies there and they’ll be ready to pick whenever you glaze a piece or set its clay.
Can I switch to dark mode?
Not at the moment. Clay Studio runs in its light theme only, and there is no Appearance setting in the app today.
Where are my photos and pieces stored?
On your device first, so the app works offline. When you are signed in, your pieces and their photos are also backed up to your account so they survive a new phone or a reinstall. That backup is private storage only your account can read — nothing is visible to other makers unless you choose to share a piece to the Community feed. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, open Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. You’ll be asked to type DELETE to confirm, and your pieces, photos, notes, glazes and posts are permanently removed. You can also follow our Data Deletion instructions or email us.
